KushiKushiKushi
Kushi is a collection of lamps designed with the precise idea of combining smooth blown glass and metal. This combination, created both for functional an aesthetic reasons, creates a visual illusion that transforms the glass into a soft material, pierced by a thin metal rod.

About

Valerio Sommella is an Italian industrial designer, born in Tuscany and raised in Milan where he graduated with Honors at the Design Department of the Milan Polytechnic. He spent the first years of his career working for important design practice between Milan and Amsterdam before he founded Valerio Sommella Design Studio in 2009. His studio works with a wide range of companies, focusing on everyday objects, furniture, lighting and accessories, with the same attention for small scale production as well as mass market.

He considers every project as an opportunity to challenge his idea of design, a constant dialogue between context, users, materials, technologies and beauty. The resulting objects are not chapters of the same book, but short stories, each one with its own plot, characters and finale.

Over the years his Studio developed projects for companies such as Alessi, Alcantara, Moooi, Kundalini, Calligaris, Honda, Falmec, Konica minolta, Modo, Panasonic, and many others.
