The INCA model is born to become a light office collection for 4Mariani, simple in its lines and with a highly recognizable feature. Everything moves around the theme of the intersection of simple volumes, parallelepipeds that fused together outline the various elements of the collection. Starting from the “foot” in lacquered wood that represents the link between the executive desk and tables, to the storage cabinets up to the handles. Another important topic in the development of the Inca collection is the logic of the combination of materials: wood, saddle leather, and lacquering.

About

Valerio Sommella is an Italian industrial designer, born in Cortona, Tuscany, and raised in Milan where he graduated with Honours from the Design Department of the Milan Polytechnic. He spent the first years of his career working for important design practices between Milan and Amsterdam before founding Valerio Sommella Design Studio in 2009, where he works with Italian and international companies designing products ranging from lighting to furniture, from consumer electronics to accessories, with a marked preference for large numbers but without disdaining the small series. He considers each project as an opportunity to express his idea of design, which investigates the language of objects through formal, material, and technological research. He describes the products he designs not as chapters of the same book, but as short stories, of various kinds, each with its plot, characters, and ending but united by the same writing.
Over the years he worked for companies such as Alessi, Alcantara, Apple, Moooi, Kundalini, Honda, Falmec, Konica Minolta, Panasonic, Penta, Vistosi, and many others.
